vacuum-form, press mold ceramics. 2022-2024
This series captures the cycle of transforming nature into objects for human consumption, only to discard them with the assumption of their degradation and return to the earth. We transform landscapes with what we abandon, leaving the earth filled with our toxic refuse.
In these polished molds I revisit the view of a landscape, filled with the byproducts of our consumption. I do this to examine the consequences of our pre-occupation with progress as servant to human comfort. Through this series, I explore how technology and unseen labor shape our understanding of service, extraction, and aesthetics in interior and exterior built spaces.
In recasting these discarded objects into fine art materials like ceramics, I remake ideas and forms from their entrenched contexts into a new potentiality.
