This series explores the horse as a symbol of war, labor, and conquest. The horse is an unwitting witness and recorder of human history, spanning across time, cultures and borders. The horse moves over the land as a smooth space unaware of its role and complicity in the marking and occupation of claimed land
I think about the land, unaware of the divisions and separations imposed upon its body. I think about Kashmir and my belonging to that land. And I think of the shared core of human experience of occupation, of colonization and of displacement.
